California cities submit annual reports of financial transactions to the State Controller. Each report contains asset, liability, fund balance, expenditure, revenue, and other financial information.
Some reports contain other city statistics, such as employment, the number of police officers, and special enterprise activity, such as ports and harbors, housing, cemeteries, golf courses, sports arenas, hospitals, water, sewer, and solid waste services.
Years reported refer to the second year in each multi-year Fiscal Year period, i.e., reported data from 2003 refers to Fiscal Year 2002-2003, and so forth. See also archived data for fiscal years 1992-2000.
