Every year, California's K-12 school districts, county offices of education, charter schools, and joint powers agencies, all commonly known as Local Educational Agencies (LEAs), submit annual financial reports to the California Department of Education (CDE). CDE's Financial Accountability and Information Services (FAIS) Office is responsible for annually collecting, reviewing, and preparing these financial data for dissemination.
Standardized Account Code Structure (SACS) Financial Reporting Software has been the standard data reporting format since 2004. Prior years used the J-200 format. CA RAND fund category output includes both names and SACS code numbers.
Use this form to retrieve general fund school district finance statistics. RAND California School General Fund Statistics shows expenditures, revenues, and balance sheet components in school districts within a selected county. (General funds typically constitute the vast majority of district financial transactions.) The data source is the California Department of Education.
For more detailed information, including expenditures and revenues for County Offices of Education and from other funds, see Detailed School District Finance Statistics.
