RAND California Employment and Unemployment Statistics

In 2003, a new series based on NAICS codes was adopted by the Office of Management and Budget. The construction and wholesale trade industries are substantially changed, but the revisions also modify a number of retail classifications and recognize important changes in the information sector.

RAND California Employment and Unemployment contains industry employment and unemployment statistics for California, California regions and MSAs, and most counties. Counties that are part of multi-county MSA are not estimated on a monthly basis, but are estimated annually. These annual estimates are expected to be released in the summer of each year. With the exception of California statewide employment statistics (which are provided as seasonally adjusted and not seasonally adjusted), all statistics are not adjusted for seasonal employment variations. Please note that monthly updates may also contain updated data for prior months. See Employment and Unemployment Definitions for category information. The source is the Employment Development Department.

See also archived data from 1983 to 2002 based on Standard Industrial Classification (SIC) codes.
