Domestic Violence Number of Crimes

According to California Penal Code 13700(b), domestic violence means abuse committed against an adult or a fully emancipated minor who is a spouse, former spouse, cohabitant, former cohabitant, or person with whom the suspect has had a child or is having or has had a dating or engagement relationship.

Law enforcement agencies record the total number of domestic violence calls, incidents in which weapons are involved, and, if so, what type of weapon. The data are reported for California, regions, cities and jurisdictions. Statistics are based on California Department of Justice data.
